Midwest Week 0.5 - Recap and Next Steps

Posted 04-16-2024

Greetings!  Thank you to everyone who came out last night for the start of the Midwest Slowpitch Draft League.  While the early games started off in an exciting fashion, the end of the night was less than ideal as the lights on the fields failed.  Zakk Mabrey, park director with Midwest Sports Complex, asked us to share the following message with all the players:

Teams,
Last night, our generator failed to produce enough power to keep the lights on. I'm sure you're frustrated, and we want you to know we're right there with you. Our expectation was that the electrical company had everything under control last night. We were wrong.

We let you down and we want to make it right. Below is our plan on how we're making it up to you.

We are extending all leagues out by one week, ensuring that we still get 10 week seasons for everyone. April 22 will be a fresh restart of the season. In addition, there will be no gate fee on the 22nd. Everyone will enter the park for free. Midwest will also be covering ALL umpire fees for Monday, April 22.

This is all in our attempt to make things right for opening week.

Thanks
Zakk

Midwest is undergoing some exciting transformations and we can't wait to see the end result, and apologize for the false start. However, we should be good to go next week and we will be adjusting the schedules for everyone, with next week again counting as preseason to give teams that chance to gel together.

Please stay tuned to your coaches chats and your emails and we will bring you any new info as we get it!
