Suspension Appeal Process

At League Joe, we believe in accountability, fairness, and second chances. The goal of our suspension and appeal process isn't punishment — it's to protect our community and help players grow from mistakes while maintaining the fun and safety of the game.

Types of Consequences

Depending on the behavior or issue, League Joe may issue one of the following:

  • Game Suspension – Removal from one or more scheduled games.
  • Season Suspension – Removal for the remainder of the current season, with the option to return the next season.
  • Indefinite Suspension – Removal until a formal review determines readiness to return.
  • Permanent Ban – Reserved for severe or repeated violations involving violence, harassment, or threats to safety.

Local Appeal

A local appeal allows players to resolve issues quickly and directly with their league's leadership. It's your first opportunity to demonstrate accountability and a commitment to the League Joe culture.

Local appeals are best for:

  • Short suspensions (for one game or one season)
  • Situations where you've reflected, taken responsibility, and want to rejoin your local community

How to Request a Local Appeal

  • Wait for your official suspension notice, which you will receive via email.
  • Respectfully contact your Commissioner or League Director to request reconsideration.
  • Be honest, acknowledge your actions, and show what's changed since the incident.
  • The Commissioner may consult other coaches or league leaders before deciding.

If your local appeal is successful, the Commissioner may reduce your suspension, allow an early reinstatement, or recommend your reinstatement to League Joe National.

National Appeal

Players may skip the local step and appeal directly to League Joe National at any time — or submit a national appeal after a local appeal has been denied.

How to File a National Appeal

  • Prepare a written statement explaining your situation.
  • Email [email protected] with your name, league, and incident details.
  • Include any supporting information or witness statements.
  • You'll receive confirmation within 3 business days.

What Happens Next

Your appeal will be reviewed by a neutral three-member panel of Commissioners or Directors from other regions. They will review all materials and issue one of the following outcomes:

  • Uphold the suspension
  • Modify the length or conditions
  • Lift the suspension entirely

All rulings from the national review panel are final and will be communicated to both the player and the league's leadership.

Returning After Suspension

When reinstated, players are expected to:

  • Follow all League Joe policies and the Player Code of Conduct.
  • Set a positive example for others.
  • Understand that additional violations may result in permanent removal.

Final Note

We're not here to punish — we're here to protect the community. Everyone makes mistakes, and our goal is to help good people come back stronger, more self-aware, and ready to contribute to the league we all love.
