Free Agent Placement - Timing and Policy

I Paid to Play - Why Haven't I Been Placed on a Team Already?

Even after a draft has concluded, the balancing process does not stop. As busy adults, we have injuries, schedule conflicts, and other unavoidable issues that sometimes mean we have to cancel. When players cancel, that leaves a big hole in a team in terms of balance.

For that reason, we take great care to place our free agents on the best possible teams to cover gaps caused by drops. While we could randomly assign players, that is likely to result in a competitive imbalance - and we don't want the other players on the team to lose their opportunity to compete based on drops they could not control.

If you sign up AFTER the draft, you might not be placed until the night before the event.

We gather as many free agents as possible into our "Ready Pool" and then place them as close to the event as possible. If you see rosters that are short and need free agents - don't worry. We're very aware, and will be filling those gaps as soon as possible.

Thanks for your patience and understanding during this process. We know you are excited to play, and we are excited to have you! Please understand this process, while sometimes nerve-wracking, helps us ensure you have the best possible experience we can give you.

How Can I Verify I Am Going to Be Placed On a Team?

Visit the registration/information page for the event you signed up for and there will be a notice alerting you to your pending status (See Example Image). It may take 48 hours for this notice to appear, and will only appear if you have paid in full.

Ready Placement

I Paid to Play, and Will Only Play with [Team Name]

Sorry, it doesn't work that way. Guaranteed couple linking only occurs before the draft, so to be guaranteed to play with a specific friend, you must sign up before the draft. The balance and parity of the event will always trump personal preferences. If you need a refund, please contact support and another free agent will be placed instead.

Frequently Asked Questions and Comments

How Will I Know my First Game Schedule?

Every team tends to start within a couple hours of each other. Plan on being there for the first game and if you end up on a team that starts a little later - enjoy hanging out and meeting new folks!

How Will I Bond with my Team?

You will be added to your team chats once you are placed, and will have plenty of time over the weekend to get to know your fellow players. To get the full experience, sign up before the draft for your next event.

[Name] Got Placed Immediately, but I Didn't?

Sometimes we see a player who is an absolute lock for roster due to specific scenarios (i.e. female free agent and only one team with a female shortage). In those cases, they may get placed early. Just because others are placed does not mean you will not be.

[Name] is [Name 2]'s Friend and Got on Their Team of Choice!

We place players based on the best possible fit and encourage all teams to go out and continue recruiting for the event if it is not yet sold out. Sometimes the players they recruit end up fitting the team needs perfectly, and it works out. Sometimes it doesn't. It's not guaranteed to be placed on any specific team as a Free Agent.

[Team Name] is Missing a [Position], and They Got a [Different Position]!

We can only place players who sign up, and often we have more gaps on the field in certain positions than we have available Free Agents. We do our best to give every team a chance to win, but that doesn't mean every team will have a perfect squad. Teams will need to adapt to their players to achieve success.

Two teams have protested our placements vehemently before the event began because they had five first basemen. Both teams ended up in the Championship game. Don't judge the player books by their positional covers.
