Rules Summary

These are the most common and/or most unique rules being used for this event. Please see "Official Rulebook" for exhaustive list of playing rules. When in conflict, rules written here shall supercede those in the official rulebook.

As a player, you are responsible for knowing all official rules of the game. By participating in the event, you are agreeing that you are aware of all rules associated with the league and the sport, and agree to abide by them at all times.

Rule #1 : Let's Have Fun

This is a celebration of a whole season of play and a great way to end the year on a high note. Come ready to play, but don't forget to keep up the spirit of fun, parity, and inclusiveness!

Games Rules

All standard League Joe rules with USSSA base are in play. ISP is the home park and will use its umpires, therefore any nuances to the game will shift towards ISP standards.

Key Rule Differences

8 Run Cap per Inning, per Team for the first 3 innings of play.  Innings 4+ are Open innings.

50 minute clock

Games can end in a tie

Drafted teams must always bat and play with full roster provided

No player may sit the bench on defense more than one inning prior to the start of the 5th inning

Coin flip for home/away

3 courtesy runners per inning, any gender for any gender.  Cannot run for more than one person per inning

Gender Disparity

The South side team as a whole has many more female players than the North side team for this event.  Rather than force women to switch allegiances, we will play the following rules:

Female Disparity is Less than 2

  • The team with fewer women cannot bench their females without specific cause (i.e. injury)

  • Lineups have no other restrictions

  • No restrictions on where women play the field

Female Disparity is 2 Or More

  • The team with fewer women (typically The North):

    • Cannot play a female at Catcher without specific cause

    • Cannot bench the females without specific cause

  • BOTH TEAMS

    • All rostered players must be added to the lineup

    • Your lineup may not consist of more than two guys in a row

    • If you do not have enough females to have a unique female in each required lineup spot, the females will rotate themselves through the batting order sequentially

Run It Back Games

Players who wish to "Run it Back" with a previous championship team may do so as long as a minimum of 8 total players from that previous team are able to participate. They will then be faced off against a championship squad from the other turf to play.

  • Run it Back Games will be scheduled in the 8:30/9:30 timeslots
  • Players must wear the jersey of their championship squad for this game*
  • Same rules from Draft Pool Play apply
  • The run differential from these games counts double towards the overall standings!

* We're adults with busy lives so if you *really* can't find your old jersey, it'll be fine. But you better not have given it to Goodwill!

Draft Pool Play

All players (including those on Run it Back squads) are included in the player pool to participate in Draft Pool Play games at 6:30, 7:30, 8:30, and 9:30.

Turf Allegience Determination
I-70 will be the dividing line for turf allegiences.   If you live and play North of I-70, pick North!  If you live and play South, pick South!  If you have any split allegiences for any reason, feel free to pick your favorite or join the player draft pool and be selected to the team that needs you the most.  The flex player draft will occur the morning of Tuesday, Oct 21 by the Commissioners of each park. Commissioners will draft/assign coaches to assist with this process. League Joe salary balancing and parity system will determine order and volume of draft picks for each side.

  • Players encouraged to wear jerseys from their favorite teams from their drafted turf
  • Immediately following the game, a minimum of six players from each team will leave the field and be replaced by new players
  • All players guaranteed to play a minimum of 2 games, most will play 3 or more**

* We're adults with busy lives so if you *really* can't find your old jersey, it'll be fine. But you better not have given it to Goodwill!

** Depends on number of players who sign up. We will fill every diamond with every willing player at the fields. Players may opt to play only two games if they wish to do so! Play as much or as little as you like for the evening.
